Dark to Light Kitchen Renovation

Our client already had a kitchen full of cabinetry in excellent condition but was tired of the darker cabinets and Venetian gold granite counters popular in the early 2000s. They also wanted to address some functionality upgrades.

Preparation is so critical to cabinetry painting - we take the cabinets apart, remove all hardware, sand, prime and then paint using in this application Sherwin-Williams Urethan Enamel which provides a really durable smooth finish. We upgraded the hinges and hardware and replaced the under cabinet lighting with new dimmable LED.

Extending the island allowed for the addition of a vertical cabinet for cutting boards + sheet pans as well as a beverage cooler. The island was then clad in a Shaker profile to match the cabinetry. Above the refrigerator, cabinetry was extended to give a built-in look. Two extra large glass pendant lights with brushed brass finish installed above the island completed the look.

The backsplash was replaced with a Carrara marble chevron pattern complementing the white quartz countertops. An undermount Kohler sink and new faucet replaced existing; the window was trimmed out and two small open shelves added.

The pantry was a familiar 8’ closet with bifold doors blocking much of the space. We removed the doors, custom built a center drawer unit and deep angled shelves to allow for easier access and full use of the space. We replaced the doors with fully opening, frosted glass French doors.
